With so many different dating apps available these days, finding the right one for you can be a challenge. After all, recent estimates from Forbes put the total worldwide count of dating apps at 8,000+ (and many more being developed, especially since the advent of AI-assisted dating apps). How can you know which one’s actually work? Let’s narrow down your options with our Feeld review: is this the hookup app that will lead to success?

Let me spoil things for you: there are plenty of dating apps and sites out there that don’t work, and just a handful that do. In our experience, these are the sites that have been proven to work time and again:

At Heart Insider, we want you to spend less time searching the app store and more time on exciting dates. In service to that, we have put together the most comprehensive Feeld review you will find anywhere.

Originally known as 3nder (“Thrinder”) until August 2016, Feeld is a dating app similar to Tinder and Bumble but with one major difference: It’s designed for more than just vanilla dating.

If you’re single, or a couple looking to explore kinks or invite others into the bedroom, Feeld aims to make that possible.

Methodology: How we reviewed Feeld
Before writing the review I wanted to know exactly how the app functions, first hand. I used Feeld daily for over six weeks, both as a free then a paid user. Collectively this meant hours of swiping, messaging, escalation and. . . well let’s say the app was successful for me.

As a free user, I tried all the features available to me for a few weeks. I tried to set up dates with as many women as I could. With the paid version, however, I found more success. I also used my premium membership to use every feature that free users couldn’t use.

Hundreds of swipes, over 40 conversations and several meetups later, I have a very good understanding of this app.

I wanted to experience the whole process for myself so I could give you a complete low-down on it, start to finish. There were some ups and downs which are typical for dating but, all in all, the whole experience turned out to be very positive.

This wasn’t just a casual look through the app. I gave it serious effort, time, and money to find out all the info you could possibly need.

This kind of time and financial investment makes for better reviews. More than that, being active in the dating world myself keeps me up to date for more helpful dating advice all around.

Now, let’s talk about my experience with the Feeld app and our recommendations for using it.[/su_box]

My Feeld Review (Paid And Free Versions)

There’s a lot to talk about in this review of the Feeld dating app, and we’ll get into the specifics soon. First, I want to give you a high-level overview of the most important factors.

I really focus on giving you my perspective in a way that would help the average guy out. I’m looking at this to see if a normal guy, not some super model, is actually going to have success using Feeld. If you’re good-looking enough you can have success with women just about anywhere with a little bit of experience.

To put this review into context, I’ve also compared it to AFF, one of Feeld’s better-known competitors and the best hookup app out there right now. Fancy features in an app are great, but if they can’t satisfy these fundamentals, apps can become quite painful to use.

Statistics for Feeld as of 2023

  • Gender Distribution: The gender distribution on Feeld is 39% female and 61% male according to a review on DatingScout.
  • Geographical Distribution: According to the site itself, half of Feeld’s users in the United States identify as non-monogamous, sex-positive, or kinky individuals, indicating a specific user preference within the US demographic.
  • User Base Size: Feeld boasts of having over 2,000,000 members worldwide (Source: DatingScout).
  • Downloads: The app had 100k downloads in July 2023, according to data from SensorTower (Source: SensorTower).

4 10
Our Recommendation

As you can probably tell from this overview, I found the Feeld app to be “okay”. The biggest drawback was the smaller user base which can make it really tough to meet anyone outside of a major city. From my experience, the app did feel safe and secure and in no way a scam.

In my experience, most people (guys especially) are going to get better results using AFF’s free trial. What you have over 90,000,000 active users like AFF it is really hard to compete, even for a decent app like Feeld.

If you’re looking to explore things sexually, Feeld is a great way to get started but again, you really need to be in a big city to get decent results. The relative anonymity takes away some of the intimidation that can put people off taking that first step.

If you’re in a relationship, it also allows you to link your profile to your significant others’ so everyone can see. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process and makes for more informed decisions. Attraction and consent are obviously huge parts of any kind of kink play, so the more information you have, the better.

Being able to link profiles means if you’re single and interested in a couple, you can see them both. You see the potential match’s profile like any other app as well, as their partner’s, so there are no surprises.

This means swiping with confidence in an area that can often be a little risky.

Another important difference between Feeld and standard dating apps is you can use an alias. If you’re putting yourself out there looking for something risque, an alias can help you feel more comfortable doing so.

Unfortunately for the app creators, I wouldn’t suggest paying for the Majestic membership. The free version already offers everything I found useful.

Positives and negatives

While I’ve already covered a lot of ground, I want to go even deeper in our review of Feeld so that you can be sure of what you’d be signing up for. Now, let’s take an even closer look at some of the specific pros and cons that struck me during my six weeks diving into Feeld.

Check out the major positives and negative points below.

Positives
Negatives
  • Relatively anonymous
  • A great way to start exploring your sexuality and kinks
  • The ability to link profiles with your partner
  • Clean, intuitive interface
  • Reliable app with safe, simple billing
  • Much smaller user base than something like Tinder or AFF
  • Of the matches you do get, getting through to meeting them can be tough
  • Did see several people I know
  • App often logged me out so I’d miss notifications

Profiles, pictures and members

Without high-quality profiles and photos, dating apps aren’t much good to anyone. Thankfully, the quality of both on Feeld was very high.

Feeld Profile Picture

Of the hundreds of profiles I looked at, only five of them were low quality. In terms of attractive people, I was also pleasantly surprised, to be honest. To give you an idea, roughly 10% of the profiles I saw were very attractive and about 60% were average or better.

Overall I’d say the quality and attractiveness of the people I saw was on par with Tinder. Naturally, this will vary based on your location and range, but I was excited each time I got another match.

Given the nature of what people are looking for on this app, I expected to see a lot of generic profiles. Instead, it felt just like I was using Tinder for the most part. The profile photos are often the same type and quality, and people actually take the time to write a bio.

I could only point out two major differences between Feeld profiles and other dating apps. That’s the fact that people are far more open about what they’re looking for and don’t mind showing it.

That makes sense, of course, given the purpose of the app. For example, I’m very used to seeing “I don’t do hookups” on Tinder and Bumble profiles (then hooking up with them two days later. . . ugh, cultural expectations). On Feeld, on the other hand, some women show themselves in lingerie and state exactly what they’re looking for.

If you’re sex-positive and looking to explore, this is very refreshing.

The other major difference is that you’ll be presented with both sexes as a potential match. The first time I matched with a guy (part of a couple looking for a third) felt very strange, so be prepared for that.

All in all, I didn’t come across a single profile I would consider to be fake. Which is more than I can say for regular dating apps. The closest I found to a fake profile was a woman openly looking for guys to film with, offering her handle so you can see what she does.

Even then, the openness is a pleasant change.

Industry standard tips to spot legitimate dating site interactions

The online dating industry is huge. To give you an idea, the global online dating market size was valued at USD $9.65 billion in 2022 and is projected to register a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4% from 2023 to 2030.

Due to online dating’s issues with scammers and bad actors, the following professional organizations offer some basic advice that you should pay attention to when interacting with strangers on any dating platform:

  • Look for Consistency: “Genuine users on dating sites maintain consistent and clear communication. Be cautious of profiles that are sporadic, vague, or suddenly disappear without explanation,” Ann Austin of the Online Dating Association writes.
  • Verify Profile Information: The Better Business Bureau says, “Check for profile verification features, such as badges or symbols, which can indicate that a user has undergone identity verification. Additionally, look for profiles with detailed and genuine information, including photos, to increase the likelihood of authenticity.”
  • Trust Your Instincts: According to the Federal Trading Commission, “Your instincts are your best guide. If something feels off or too good to be true, take it as a red flag. Trust your gut and proceed with caution. Always prioritize your safety.”

Feeld.co Design

If you’ve ever used Tinder or Bumble, the design of the app will feel very familiar.

You’re presented with profiles of people that fit the criteria you’ve defined. You’ll see profile photos you can scroll through and a short bio. Tap the photo to see a larger version, and you select either a heart or a “-” to determine if you’re interested or not.

If you both like each other, it’s a match, and you can then start chatting to them within the app. All very standard and, honestly, nothing for me to elaborate on further.

How messaging and chatting went in our Feeld review

Also just like the usual dating apps, chatting felt very familiar. You have a chat tab at the bottom. From here you’ll see new Connections across the top and existing conversations in a list. The layout, functionality and features here are identical.Feeld Chat tab

Over the six weeks I was using Feeld, I had 63 matches. I reached out to each of these matches when I was ready and got a response and conversation from 42 of them. That’s a 67% response rate. This might sound low, but after paying for the Majestic membership, the reason became clear.

Majestic allowed me to see when these Connections were last online. In all but one instance, the Connections that didn’t reply didn’t seem to use the app anymore. That is one minor drawback of an app designed for people to explore — users will come and go from it even more than Tinder.

While the chat functionality is the same as other dating apps, there’s one cultural difference with Feeld. It’s common to match with a couple in here and, naturally, you want to talk to both of them before meeting.

While the app does offer a group message function, very few seem to use it. Instead, once you’re both comfortable, the expectation is that you exchange Kik profiles and chat on there. Kik then allows you to start a group chat with the three (or more) of you safely.

If you don’t have a Kik account, I’d suggest setting one up if you plan to use Feeld. Don’t be surprised when someone suggests you move the chat over — it’s a safe move.

How to communicate on Feeld

This is a small detail I wanted to add here as well. Feeld is a very sexual app but that doesn’t actually change how you should be talking to your matches all that much.

You don’t have to be coy about what you want but that doesn’t mean you should be crass. Both (all?) of you need to establish a level of comfort before anything else can happen. My suggestion would be to let your profile set out what you’re looking for and keep the chat very normal.

Matching with someone that’s openly looking for casual sex isn’t an invitation to start with “you’re hot, want to bang?”

Keep it classy, figure out if the two of you get along and escalate to the sexual stuff from there.

What can you do with a free membership?

As I mentioned earlier, I feel as though the free Feeld membership gives you everything you need.

It allows you to:

  • Create a profile
  • Define a maximum distance for potential matches
  • View the potential matches in your area
  • Match with others
  • Chat to them without restriction

Since you can control who you see, match with them and chat, that’s about all you need here.

Although I did use the paid version for this review, those “Majestic” features didn’t influence the outcome. I would have seen, matched with, chatted to and met those same couples on the free version.

See below for a list of features unique to their “Majestic” membership.

Advertisements

Just like its more popular counterparts, Feeld is a dating app with no ads whatsoever. Presumably, the revenue from their Majestic members is enough, as that seems to be their only source of income.

I’ve been using the app for six weeks now — about two weeks free and the rest as a Majestic member. I’ve yet to see a single advertisement of any kind which adds to the overall trustworthy feel of the app.

On that note, if you are using it and enjoy the app, you might want to consider the paid version just to support the developers.

Pricing

The pricing model for the Feeld dating app is very simple since you have two options. Free or the paid “Majestic” membership.

The paid membership gives you two options. Either monthly for $11.99 or three months for $23.99 (USD), making it $8.00 per month.

When signing up for the Majestic membership, you get these perks:

  • Hide from Facebook friends who also use the app
  • Immediately see when someone likes you rather than having to match
  • See when users were last online
  • Access to the “Dawn Theme” — basically a dark theme for the app
  • The ability to add private photos that only matches can see

In my opinion, none of these are a good enough reason to pay the subscription. The only feature I found vaguely helpful was seeing who liked me. Even then though, it wasn’t a game-changer.

As I mentioned earlier, I think the best reason to pay for this app is to support the developers. They’ve produced a strong, reliable app with no ads, and I think that’s worth supporting.

If you’ve tried Feeld and similar apps, we’d love to hear from you. Share a comment below!

User Testimonials for Feeld

M. A. “Vitriol” Gagné – Quora

Title: Which is better, Feeld or Bumble?

“Neither. Bumble is more or less dead if you don’t live in a very densely populated area and Feeld is as fake as a $3 bill.

People commonly believe dating apps are forbidden to use fake profiles. That’s topmost BS. Not only do they explicitly say so in their TOS but on some sites like Feeld, average guys will get no interaction whatsoever other than with bots and Feeld operated fakes.

How to know? On Feeld, when a real flesh and blood person matches with you, their chat thread vanishes once they unmatch. When they terminate their account without unmatching you, their avatar is reverted to the default avatar and the thread gets labeled as unavailable because the human deleted their account. However, when dealing with a bot or a Feeld operated fake, the chat history will remain available, but you won’t be able to reply and the “contact status” is set to “terminated”. That’s about the only time you won’t be able to respond without losing access to the chat history.”

Taco Scheltema – TrustPilot

Title: Totally useless

“Paying member for one month, I’ve used the ping and like features daily and only had one match. This one match wanted to connect via Skype instantly only to then try and scam me. The profile was quite obviously fake.

Also don’t see the value in paying 28 euro when the only functionality you get is to send likes or pings. Likes are only seen by paying members and you only get one ping a day. Seems no value for a lot of money.”

From Azeroth to Real-Life Romance: My Quest to Dating Mastery

Hi there, I’m Ash Wright, a self-proclaimed reformed World of Warcraft addict turned savvy dating expert. Once a denizen of the virtual world of Azeroth, I now navigate the equally complex and enchanting realm of modern dating. My journey from the pixelated screen to real-world connections has been nothing short of a heroic quest, filled with self-discovery, challenges, and ultimately, success in mastering the art of meaningful human connections.

My story began in the confines of my room, where I spent endless hours raiding and questing in World of Warcraft. But there came a point when I realized that life had so much more to offer beyond the digital frontier.

Inspired by my lack of success of others and driven by a desire for self-improvement, I swapped my gaming console for a gym membership, gaining not just muscle, but a newfound self-confidence.

It required me to step out of my comfort zone, to trial and error, and to learn from each experience. My approach was no different from mastering a game – understanding the rules, learning from each interaction, and leveling up with every encounter.

That being said, video addiction is a common phenomenon – and a serious one at that.

“There’s not one age at which gaming disorder starts,” Amy Shriver, MD, UnityPoint Health pediatrician, says. “Ninety percent of children and teens are gaming in our society, but only one to nine percent will go on to develop gaming disorder.” Shriver continues by highlighting the correlation between video game engagement and social failure, saying, “Children and teens who play more video games and have lower social competence (below normal social, emotional, cognitive or behavioral skills) and greater impulsiveness (ability to act on a whim) were at higher risk of becoming pathological gamers.”

Do you have your own story of personal transformation leading to success in your love life? Or maybe your path forward through a crippling video game addiction? If so, we’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and start the conversation today!

Feeld app review — FAQ

Feeld is a popular and interesting app. Naturally, that means people are asking a lot of questions about it.

To finish up my review, I wanted to go over the more common topics I’ve seen people asking about. If I’ve missed anything, go ahead and ask about it in the comments, and we can update it for you here!

What is Feeld.co?

Feeld is a dating app designed for more than just one-on-one dating. The name, Feeld, is a reference to ‘playing the field’ which sums up exactly the purpose of the app.

The primary focus is to allow people to meet up and explore their sexuality with others. Whether you’re single or in a relationship, it allows you to explore your kinks freely.

You even have the ability to link your account with your partner’s so you can match and chat together.

Who actually owns Feeld?

Feeld is owned by Feeld Lts, a London-based startup company founded in 2014.

How does Feeld work?

Feeld is a dating app designed for singles and couples looking to explore with others.

At its core, it’s much like any other dating app. You set up a profile and specify a few basic parameters, like distance and age.

From there, you’re presented with profiles of people who fit those parameters, and you decide if you’re interested in them or not. If both of you are interested in each other, it’s a match (or “Connection”, in Feeld parlance) and are free to chat and escalate from there.

The biggest difference is that because it’s also designed for couples to use together, you can link profiles. If you see the profile of a woman who says she’s in a relationship and they’re looking for a third, you can scroll down and see his profile too.

How do you search on Feeld.co?

Since Feeld is a dating app rather than a website, you can’t ‘search’ in the traditional sense. Instead, you’re presented with a range of matches in your area that fit your criteria.

For each match you see, you can tap the heart if you like them or the ‘-’ if you don’t. If you like someone and they like you too, that’s a match. Now you can chat.

How can I contact Feeld.co?

You can use their support page at support.feeld.co

Is Feeld a real app?

Yes, Feeld is a real app that’s moderately popular.

Is Feeld.co legit?

Yes, Feeld is a legitimate dating app. I haven’t come across any indication that might suggest otherwise. In fact, I haven’t even seen any mention of a Feeld scam online, which is very promising.

Is Feeld a scam or fake?

No, there is no Feeld scam. All interactions I’ve had with users in this app have been legitimate.

Is Feeld.co safe?

Yes, Feeld.co is a safe app to use. However, as with any other hookup app, you should exercise caution when meeting up with people or exchanging contact information.

How does Feeld use Facebook?

Feeld uses Facebook as a simple, secure way to verify user accounts and age. Here’s what Feeld has to say about it on their website:

“We know not everyone likes Facebook, but they’ve built a strong verification system that we rely on to keep Feeld a safe community of real people… it makes us much safer than some other dating sites…”

It’s also important to note they don’t interact with your Facebook account at all beyond verification. The app will never post to your timeline, send private messages or do anything that lets your Facebook friends know you use Feeld.

Can I be hidden from my Facebook friends on Feeld?

Yes. For an added level of anonymity, you can hide your profile from any Facebook friends that use Feeld.

To do this, you’ll need to pay for their Majestic membership. Once you’ve done this, go to your profile, tap Majestic Membership then tap the slider to activate “Hide from Friends”.

What are Feeld alternatives?

There are countless alternatives to Feeld. We could write an entire article to answer this question alone. . . so we did! If you want some alternatives to Feeld, go ahead and check out the Best Hookup Apps and Sites.

Is there a Feeld app?

Yes, Feeld has an Android and iOS app. You can’t use it on a browser.

How much does Feeld.co cost?

You can use the Feeld app for free. If you’d like to upgrade to the paid “Majestic” membership, you get two options.
