In the world of dating apps, you often find yourself using one of three types: a popular app with lots of active users, an app with just enough users to keep you entertained, or an app that’s either dead or worse, full of bots. So which category foes Casual X fall into? We’ll reveal everything in our CasualX review. But if you’re in a rush, here’s a quick summary of what we found compared to the top hookup app we’ve used to date:
There’s no denying how useful dating apps can be when it comes to connecting people. “[They] give you the rare opportunity to connect with hundreds of people you wouldn’t have known otherwise while also allowing you to explore your sexuality and find out what you want in a partner,” says societal trends writer Leah Stodhart. “Yes, that includes potentially connecting with hundreds of people you’d rather not have known, but we still think that the pros can outweigh the cons in a lot of cases.”
It became pretty obvious as we began our CasualX review that they are really trying to be an app for singles who want to find a “no strings attached” relationship. This app received excessive hype from the media when it launched on iOS and Android in 2017. Many internationally-acclaimed publications also labeled it as the “hook-up only” version of Tinder.
However, it seems as if none of the journalists working for these mainstream men’s websites actually bothered to test the app. More likely, they just copy and pasted the juiciest parts of the app’s press release. That’s not how we roll here at Heart Insider!
We know from experience that a lot of “alternative” dating apps fail to deliver on their lofty promises. In fact, Pew Research found that only 42% of dating app users said they made it easier to find a partner. Although Pew found that 30% of Americans have tried online dating, most apps fail to build a large active user base, leaving those who do sign up frustrated with their lack of options. We don’t want that to happen to you.
Forbes data suggests there are around 2,500 dating apps available to choose from in the modern day. Most of them are duds. That’s why I was so keen to put CasualX through its paces. The intense testing process here at Heart Insider allows you to discover the truth about the various online dating services available to you.
The free version of the app works exactly like Tinder. You’ll see pictures of women one at a time and you can choose whether or not to “like” them. You can only message women who “like” you back. On top of that, Casual X will randomly assign one woman per day who you can message regardless of whether you “like” each other. I “liked” 100 women for this part of the test.
Then, I set up a premium account. This allowed me to search for women and message them without them having to “like” me first. I messaged dozens and dozens of women for this part of the test. All of the women I attempted to contact were based in a very populated area. We use this city for almost all of our online dating reviews. Again, this allows for a fair comparison between apps.
In both cases, I took note of how responsive the women on this app were. How many viewed my profile? How many “liked” me? How many replied to my message? You’ll discover all that in the Casual X review below.
Let’s get to the fun part.
Let’s begin with a basic summary. Below, I have rated CasualX out of 10 for the most important aspects out of online dating. For context, these ratings are compared to AFF, which, in our experience, is the best hookup website available for organizing no-strings-attached meetings.
We find that it’s really helpful for singles to have a top option to compare another site or app too. It really shows just how good or bad one is versus the other and makes quick comparisons really easy.
Here is how CasualX compares to the top hookup app out there right now for most guys:

There is a high demand for hook-up apps in the modern day. Some 24% of dating app users questioned by Pew Research said they use dating apps to seek casual sex. Indeed, CasualX was responding to society’s call for more niche dating apps.
“As the dating app market widens, so do the opportunities to meet ever more tailored matches,” explains dating writer Jessie Atkinson. “Casual daters, spouse-seekers and fetish explorers alike should get something out of one or more of the apps and sites to follow.”
Indeed, I had high hopes for this app. It looked like it would be the real deal. Sadly, this wasn’t the case at all. We strongly recommend that you don’t waste your time trying to find a hookup on this app. The odds are heavily stacked against you. After spending weeks and weeks using it we didn’t really find any redeeming features. If you’re actually looking to meet women there are MUCH better options out there, especially AFF. Do yourself a favor and save a lot of time and money by avoiding Casual X.
Around two thirds of dating app users have never paid for premium services, according to findings from Pew Research. Thankfully, Casual X will offer you free membership if you promote the app to your social media or blog followers. You will be gifted a longer membership the more people you promote the service to. For example, if you promote Casual X on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you will be given one day of premium membership for every 10 followers you have.
If you prefer, you can write a blog post and Casual X will make a judgment on how many free days to give you, depending on your site’s traffic. To claim your free membership, email a screenshot of your promotion to [email protected].
All of the profiles I swiped through and messaged appeared to be legitimate. Many of them had multiple pictures and unique bios. Also, most of the women looked average at best. That’s not ideal when you’re looking for a date, but it’s at least a sign that the app isn’t a scam.
Scam apps typically use fake profiles with (often unrealistically) attractive women to tempt you into paying for a premium membership. I can promise you it was tough to feel temptation towards any of the women popping up on Casual X.
Despite the poor quality of the women on this app, none of the 100 ladies I “liked” decided to “like” me back. And none of the 50+ women I cold-messaged with my premium account replied to me. Throughout the whole testing process, only one woman viewed my profile.
This suggests that the app is pretty much dead. Perhaps all these women were actively using the app a few years ago. But it looks like no-one is using it anymore.
There’s no point wasting your time on this app, whether you pay for a premium membership or not. The reality is: you’re not going to easily find someone to hook up with on this app. However, there is a fantastic online service where this is definitely possible.
AFF is our favorite online hookup website of all time. Shiny, new sites come and go, but AFF has been around for decades. It has also amassed a huge userbase of people who just want to keep things casual. It’s marketed towards singles looking for casual hookups, and there are plenty of attractive women here looking for exactly that. But don’t worry, the women here are typically more focused on sexual compatibility than just looks and getting attention.
Best of all, the women on AFF are extremely responsive. I’ve found that they’re often keen to meet and get down to business quickly. It’s great! Out of all the hookup websites we have tested over the years, there are few that come close to AFF when it comes to arranging casual hookups or no-strings relationships.
To give you a more detailed look at how AFF works and how it performs for regular guys, you can also have a look at our Adult FriendFinder review.
At the time of writing, they’re offering a free trial. Another reason to see for yourself why so many people love using it!

“I’d say that AFF is probably above average, there’s definitely worse out there and it has the most important thing – a bunch of women. Id say it’s not got as many as hookuphangout.com (in my area certainly) but still has enough to keep you busy. There are occasional time wasters but overall i like this site a lot and will be taking a longer subscription when my month trial runs out. Happy days.”
Justin T – SiteJabber
“Some fake profiles, just weed through them and don’t waste your time. With a little bit of patience you will sure find some real members. Adultfriendfinder still pretty much kicks $#*!. In my honest opinion adult sites like Adultfriendfinder still work better than any popular dating app. At least everyone on here is pretty much forward and gets straight to the point”
I have summed up the main pros and cons of the Casual X app below.
You can add both public and private photos, and you can request to view a member’s private photos at any point. This option is presumably for those who want to share lewd images within the app once they get to know someone better. There is an option to have your photos verified, although few members appear to have taken this opportunity.
You’re afforded plenty of space to write in your bio. A lot of women have written sexually suggestive bios. But that’s the nature of this app. Sadly, I didn’t come across any particularly attractive women throughout the whole test. They were either not my type, didn’t show their face or used heavy filters.
Alternatives to Casual X For Normal Guys Recommended By Dating Experts
Almost two thirds of male dating app users say that they’re depressed by the lack of messages they receive, according to Pew Research. CasualX users may well be among them. If you haven’t been getting good results from dating apps you’re probably using the wrong apps. There are a few options out there that we’ve been seeing a lot of regular guys do really well with that you need to try:
Site | Our Experience | Our Rating | Free Trial Link |

This app is very easy to use. There are five main tabs at the bottom of the screen.
When you load up the app, you’ll be taken to the “Meet” tab. This is essentially the same design as Tinder, where you swipe right to “like” or left to “pass.” On the meet tab, you can filter who appears on your screen by gender, age or location. You can also view a list of everyone who you have “liked,” who has liked you and who has visited your profile.
The other tabs take you to the search option, your messages, your random match of the day and your profile. There are no complaints about the design of this app.
To message someone, click the “Message” button on their profile. You can view all of your previous messages in the “messages” tab. The app also allows you to send text messages and photos.
With a free membership, you can “like” 25 profiles per day. You can send unlimited messages to whoever “likes” you back, plus your one random “match of the day.”
There are no adverts on this app.
You can buy a one-month premium membership for $15.99. Alternatively, you can pay $36.99 for three months or $55.99 for six months. Membership auto-renews at the same price until you cancel.
You’re gifted a free premium membership when you promote Casual X on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. You get one day for every 10 followers you have.

“Nothing to see here the site seems empty I only have one response and also seems fake no indication when someone is online bunch of pictures no action total useless”
Chris H – Google Play
“Almost impossible to match with people.. can only like 1 person per day.. the meet me feature doesn’t work shows you everyone who’s out of province even with location turned on then says your out of swipes even if you swipe left on everyone which is really weird.. not a good app as it stands and based on basic broken functions wouldn’t pay for it either.”
A recent survey by Singles Reports suggested that as many as 80% of dating app users are feeling “burnt out” from using them.
“I think it’s been talked about more this year because post-pandemic we are all simply tired,” says dating expert LaLaLa LetMeExplain. “Everything feels broken, including dating apps and subsequently our love lives.”
The emergence of new dating apps with tiny user bases and (in the case of CasualX) old apps that have been abandoned certainly doesn’t help either.
If you’re feeling burnt out by online dating apps, we suggest you stick to proven websites like Adult Friend Finder.
Millions of dollars are lost every year to online romance scams. These typically involve a scammer developing an online bond with their victims, asking to borrow money then never giving it back.
“These scams are hugely traumatizing for the victims as they truly believe they are involved in a romantic relationship,” says Richmond RCMP Cpl. Adriana O’Malley. “It shows just how far these fraudsters are willing to go to defraud people of their money.”
You can protect yourself against this emotionally and financially devastating crime by following these steps.
In case you still need some help deciding if CasualX is the app for you, here are some FAQs to consider:
CasualX is a dating app where you can “like” women and get them to “like” you back so you can message them. It works like Tinder if you have a free account. However, with a paid account, you can message anyone. However, despite using the app for over a month, exactly ZERO women responded to me.
The official website is www.casualxapp.com. However, you can’t use it on a desktop or laptop. You must download the app from the iOS or Android store to use it.
CasualX is its own company and brand.
You can contact Casual X via email at [email protected].
Yes, CasualX runs two real apps that actually work.
This is a difficult question to answer. CasualX certainly looks like a legitimate dating app, but I couldn’t find a single person to talk to on it. My prediction is that all the profiles on the app are real, but the vast majority of users are now inactive.
Casual X doesn’t deploy any sneaky tactics to try and take your money. Quite the opposite, in fact. Its free version allows you to “like” people and send unlimited messages to those who “like” you back. It also offers you a free premium version just for tweeting about the app. So, there’s no way I can label this app as a scam, even if I had no success finding someone to speak to.
Yes, I’d say CasualX is pretty safe. It’s basically free and you’re not pressured to give them your credit card information.
